Mercer Ranches is currently the only commercial almond farm in Washington state. It was previously believed the winters in Washington were too cold to grow almonds. However, the Mercer family discovered a climatic pocket on the Western edge of their farm where almonds are thriving. Richard will delve into what makes this region special, the evolution of almonds, global almond production, and how Mercer Ranches aims to fit into the picture.
