Gustavo Alonso López is a North American flamenco guitarist and composer based in Walla Walla, WA. The son of a Salvadoran immigrant and formally trained in architecture, he draws on flamenco’s grassroots oral tradition, Western notation, and influences from classical music and jazz. His work blends composition and improvisation, shaped by a cross-disciplinary background that anchors his career in music.

López has released two studio albums—Punto Lejano (2014) and Espasón (2023)—with a third in post-production. His artistry has earned support from the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, ArtWalla, The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, Artist Trust, Audiosocket, and the Ucross Foundation. Central to his practice is dismantling stereotypes and fostering cross-cultural dialogue through music.
